Santa Rosa, CA – DUI Collision on Corby Ave Results in Injuries

Ziff & Cohn

Santa Rosa, CA (September 5, 2025) – A two-car collision on Thursday afternoon, September 4, in Santa Rosa led to the arrest of a driver for driving under the influence (DUI).

The crash occurred at around 2:45 p.m. in the area of Corby and Bellevue Avenues. The collision shut down traffic for several hours while emergency responders and police investigated the scene.

The driver of the white Saturn sedan, identified as 39-year-old Miguel Angel Martinez of Santa Rosa, was arrested after police determined he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash.

An SRPD DUI/Accident Investigator conducted a thorough investigation, which revealed that Martinez not only had drugs in his system but also possessed a controlled substance and narcotics paraphernalia.

Martinez was on probation for previous property crime and narcotics-related convictions. Additionally, he had an outstanding arrest warrant. Following the arrest, he was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on charges of DUI, possession of a controlled substance, and a probation violation.

The driver and passenger in the other vehicle involved in the collision suffered injuries. Both were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fortunately, the injuries were not life-threatening.

Corby Avenue was closed for several hours following the crash and was reopened at 5:15 p.m. once the scene was cleared. The investigation into the collision is ongoing.

We hope for a full and speedy recovery for the injured victims.

Car Accidents in Santa Rosa

Car accidents in Santa Rosa  are a common occurrence, and unfortunately, some of them are caused by impaired driving. The crash on Corby Avenue serves as a reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), impaired driving is one of the leading causes of car accidents across the country.

When a driver is under the influence, their reaction times are slower, their ability to focus is compromised, and their judgment becomes impaired, making it more likely that accidents will happen.

In this particular case, the driver’s reckless behavior not only led to a collision but also resulted in injuries to others involved in the accident.

Victims of car accidents, especially those caused by impaired driving, may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and emotional distress. In some cases, a personal injury attorney can help navigate the legal process and ensure that the victims receive the compensation they deserve.
